This tool has been very useful in locating circuit breakers associated with outlets in our home. The labeling on the panel is sparse and questionable so this tool has helped tremendously. It takes some practice to get good results and it's helpful to try it on a couple of known circuits to get the feel. Once you take the time to do that, it gets better with each pass.

I partially tried this unit out the other day and seemed to work great when I checked out my electrical wall socket. The only drawback is that no rechargeable batteries. If this unit would have come with rechargeable batteries I would have given a five-star review for rechargeable batteries with a decent battery capacity. But I will admit that I knew that this unit did not come with rechargeable batteries when I bought it. I will say I can live without rechargeable batteries since this will just be used just a once in a while and not for everyday use.

A very useful product and works well

Loved from the moment I borrowed one and love it to this day. Makes tracing wires and troubleshooting, if you know how to use it, so much easier. Definitely something you should add to your arsenal.

Tracing circuits from the field (branch) to panel and underground circuits, this is the perfect tool. I had a Locator company come out and locate an underground circuit that was 2'6" deep on average. Others cut this underground circuit and buried it like nothing was wrong. This particular circuit was for a scoreboard at a high school. The Locator was able to locate the circuit, which was close to 500' between the panel and the 1st junction box. But the issue was that they were unable to pinpoint exactly where the break was. I used the SureTest Pro and found the break in the underground cable with pinpoint accuracy.So I loved the idea of the fact that it found it right away.I'm a very proud customer.

I have been using ideal tools for over 10 years. I had a SureTrace tracer for years. When this next generation SureTrace trace came out, I knew I had to have it. Ideal has hit it out of the park again. I love all the new features and it��s nice that it traces as well and as easily as the older units. Nothing for me to learn over!! I highly recommend ideal and the SureTrace.

The media could not be loaded.

Wish they sold the nice transmitter/receiver in a kit without the inductive clamp but still overall a solid tool. Tracks both energized and de-energized lines through drywall, plaster and concrete.

Best tool I've bought its like having another person working with you

This is a great product for tracing circuits and troubleshooting electrical issues. It has just about everything you need to do that. It is a little pricey but it will save you time and money in the long run

Excellent circuit finder! I only have 2 complaints (could be 3)...My biggest gripe is that the clamp is useless, I have no need for it and I really wish that this version of the sure trace had to come with it... I have only tried it once because I was curious and the tracer could not find it in the panel. I would have much rather payed $100 less and this thing be omitted from the box... it is also irritating because its the only tool of the 3 with a rechargeable battery... weirdest thing ever... the tracer that will get used way more often gets aa batteries but this stupid thing gets rechargeables...My second gripe is that more often then I would like (in old commercial panels) level 2 sensitivity is too strong where it will beep at every breaker in the panel and level 1 wont pick up anything... but I can take the panel cover off and put it up against the actual wires and then I can get it to start beeping... this really only happens in old or wired badly commercial building, residential where the circuits are ran in romex separately the tracer has no issue. I have even used this on an outside light that the wires had burnt up underground.While writing this it think of a 3rd gripe... I dont mind them changing what use to be a 2 wire plug into a ground plug now with 3 wires but it really would have been nice for the ground to be the same dog on size as the neutral plug on the transmitter because on difficult to trace circuits connecting using the ground on that neutral port definitely helps! I assume the ground literally does just that and ground the tester but doesnt help at all...Over im happy with this tracer and definitely recommend it but you definitely have to be patient with it

Worth every penny. Only a fifth of the price of the most popular brand and actually outperformed.

Pro grade tool. There is a small learning curve and to understand the instructions clearly you need to have a understanding of electrical theory. Don't be scared...it is not difficult: hot (black), neutral (white), ground (bare). This tool tracked a mysterious line through walls and found the cross connected breaker. Paid for itself not hiring a electrician and a helper in one use. If you have a older home with mysterious switches and breakers this will solve the mystery. Just make sure you follow electrical safety protocols and you will be fine.

First, as the pricing should make clear, this isn't a circuit tracer like you find for $60 at the big box store. This is a set for a professional electrician who needs everything from single phase 120V capability to three phase 480V circuits.This rig is built for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, and the set is fully capable of meeting the needs of a professional.One of the items I really like is the current clamp included in the set. Sometimes, it just isn't practical to connect to the system, and the clamp lets you trace circuits without that physical connection, which is truly helpful.The only drawback is the price, which is high. On the other hand, you get what you pay for, and in this case, quality does come with a higher price tag. Like I said earlier, if you are a weekend warrior, this set isn't for you. But if you are a professional, and must rely on these tools every day, this set may be exactly what you need.

This is probably the best time saver I have found in recent years. My Father in Law has been 'working on' an extension to his home for about 8 years, the electrician that did the rough in work has retired and there are cables running to 2 distribution panels from all over. Suddenly he wants to resume work on this and all notes of what runs where are in short form that the original electrician knew, but no-one else. My task is to trace down each circuit (And ensure that what is already hooked up is safely wired.) I therefore decided that this circuit tracer was the solution and it certainly is. There is even a circuit that was damaged between the house and garage this was able to find the break in, from outside, through the wall.I did have one teething issue where the lead set for the tracer had a bad ground plug, but they are sending me a new lead set to correct that. I have used multiple circuit tracers over the years, and this is the most accurate, high quality, versatile tools it has been my pleasure to use. For the time and frustration saved on this one job it has more than paid for itself, fantastic value for money and extremely versatile. Even the case is superb quality with space for extra adapters. I've even used it to track underground cables. Multifunctional at it's best. Though if I were to have one criticism, 2 of the modules use AA batteries, the third is rechargeable. This necessitates 10 AA Batteries and a screwdriver. Why not make everything rechargeable?

This ��Ideal Electrical SureTrace Pro Circuit Tracer (61-950) 0-600 Volts AC/DC�� kit is a pros version of much less expensive ��prosumer�� wire tracer. I have been using one of those less expensive line tracers for mapping buried UF wires on our old farm. In addition, I��m mapping the various (5+) unmarked/unlabeled distribution panels. This unit��s 3 devices allow me to more reliably, and accurately, find the buried cables. The 811 guys don��t care about your backyard buried wire to the Tiki Hut and barbecue. That alone is worth the cost when digging with a backhoe. I actually like the clamp on injector for ease of use. The whole set comes in a great hardshell protective case; great for keeping it safe in a pro��s truck.The high sensitivity setting of the receiver is really helpful on buried wires, and is easily reduced. I��d rather see several more levels in between low and high sensitivity; it would make discrimination between panel breakers easier. The readouts are a bright yellow on a black background, and very readable in bright sunshine. It is a little odd that the clamp unit is rechargeable, and not the other units. Honestly, I��d rather have exchangeable batteries. Having built in batteries kind of guarantees the battery will require recharging when I need it the most. With exchangeable batteries, I can just switch them out and get to work. I can choose to use my own rechargeable batteries if I want.All in all, I��ve retired my old prosumer unit and now carry this set whenever I��m expecting to trace circuits.Worth the money, especially when you avoid digging up a live wire!Super handy. Has saved me grief several times by locating shallow buried wires before digging.
